Saturday 15th February 2025: The Art of Doing Nothing
Hello everyone,
It's Saturday, Day 20 if Daily Dose and it's time to prioritise rest and rejuvenation.
In our busy lives, we often feel guilty for taking time to rest. But rest is not a luxury; it's a necessity. It allows our bodies and minds to recharge and heal.
Today, I invite you to practice the art of doing nothing. This might feel uncomfortable at first, but with time, you'll discover the profound peace and rejuvenation that comes from simply being.
Doing nothing could look different for everyone… Here are some ideas, set yourself a 5/10/15 minute timer and commit to rest:
Daydream out of the window. Watch the clouds float by or the branches dance in the wind.
Make a hot cuppa and watch the steam rise. Savour each sip, paying attention to the temperature, taste and sensation as the tea moves through your body.
Light a candle and watch the candle flicker.
Sit and practice mindful breathing. Allow yourself to be present with your breath and your body. Notice the sensations that arise, without judgment or analysis.
Somatic Tip: As you rest, pay attention to your body's signals. What feels good? What helps you to relax and unwind? Honour your body's wisdom.
